Data suggests we spend 75% of all time with our kids by the time they turn 12. This is such a magical place to spend some of that time!
We’ve done quite a few club med resorts and this is probably the most beautiful we’ve been at. It was also quiet and even though they were at full capacity, you could always find a quiet beach or pool if you wanted to. Our kids are 5 and 8 and we liked that they were generally in the same group at kids club which doesn’t happen in the larger resorts. All staff spoke English but there weren’t many other English speaking kids. We kept being told that not many English speaking families go to the resort. This did mean there weren’t many other kids for our kids to speak to.
Particular shout out for Trishi the chef de village and also his deputy. They were so friendly and visible, and it really felt that they knew all the guests.
We had connected rooms with balconies you could walk straight out to the family pool from which was ideal with young kids. The pools are all very different - we worried the family pool might be too young for ours but they still really enjoyed it.
The beaches and sea life for us were the main event. The beach near the main pool is great for tropical fish spotting - just sat in the shallows we saw parrot fish, sergeant major fish, needlefish, angel fish and more! You just sit at the edge of the waves and schools of tropical fish come up and swim around you! Then there’s a protected beach running between just behind scuba school all the way to the zen area. Here we saw huge numbers of baby lemon sharks again just swimming in the shallows, as well as stingrays and lots of crabs! This beach is good for sandcastles too because it’s completely quiet. Best in the morning when tide is low. Then the beach with water sports which is reached by a beautiful walkway. This is also where the giant tortoises are which are really magical!
We took the children for massages at the spa which was super fun, and also had our own time at the spa - can’t recommend Rahul for a massage strongly enough! We also took out the glass bottom kayak, enjoyed the padel and tennis and also archery, and my son did a bubblemaker course - sports facilities here are very good. We did miss the circus school and sailing at the kids club was more a chance to go out on the boat than learn to sail which my son was disappointed by, but all in all the activities were great.
Food as always at club med was spectacular - the daily grilled fish option was a particular highlight!
A few things did go wrong, as they always will, and there was some issue with organisation around towels being available at the pool, the room being cleaned at convenient times, check in and check out had some challenges. It felt like a big priority for the new chef de village will need to be tightening up some of the processes with housekeeping which did feel chaotic at times, with him needing to personally help us with a problem at check in (which we hugely appreciated!). A couple of the staff said directly to us that the issue was guests with too high expectations, which to me suggested those staff might need some retraining! This was in the minority though - the vast majority of staff were absolutely excellent, professional and very friendly.
