Day 1: Marseille

Founded in 600 BCE by Greek sailors from Phocaea, the Old Port and its historic neighbourhoods, the Byzantine-style Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde basilica, its sunny corniche facing the sea and its wild rocky inlets make it a city of great contrasts. Day 2: Portofino

The town owes its fame to an English lord who fell in love with this small fishing port in the 14th century. After the English aristocracy, Mérimée and Maupassant also succumbed to the discreet charm of this town which was soon to become one of the most famous in Europe.
